The Third Annual Conference of the International Archives Council was held in Reykjavik, Iceland from September 26 to 29, 2015.
The State Archive of the Republic of Macedonia at this Conference was represented by the Director, Dr. Filip Petrovski.
The third annual conference was held at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica Hotel and was organized by the International Archives Council and the National Archives of Iceland. The main sponsors of the Conference were Ancestry (the world's largest family history search resource, based in Utah, USA, founded in 1983, working with several archives around the world to digitize historical documents), FamilySearch (NGO from Utah, USA, which provides on-line access to registry data from around the world), the Icelandic Ministry of Education and Science, and the city of Reykjavik.
Between the sessions and workshops of the Conference, a fair could be visited where exhibitors were present as exhibitors several organizations and companies in the field of digital technology, which promoted their products, ie software programs. Among those present at the fair were: GoPro, Ancestry, FamilySearch, Zeutchell, Preservica, Pigl, One Systems and others.
The Conference was attended by a total of 480 delegates from 75 countries around the world.
During the Conference, the participants visited the National Archives of Iceland, where they were introduced to the history of the Archives and how the National Archives work.
The main topic of the Third Annual Conference was: Archives - Records, Security and Civil Rights / Providing Reliable Information.
Workshops and workshops provided in the Conference program were held at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica Hotel. They addressed a number of topics, including: Information and modern society, Information and civil rights, Information security and protection.
This Conference was an exceptional and unusual opportunity to meet representatives of archives around the world in one place, to exchange ideas about archival work, but also the role of archives in society and their promotion, as well as to receive information about the latest software. techniques and equipment used in digitization in archives.
Dr. Filip Petrovski used this opportunity to make more contacts and arrange more projects with the archives of our immediate environment, but also with other archives.
