On October 28 and 29, 2021, the State Archives participated in the XVIII International Conference "Documentation in the Information Society: Digital Transformation in the Interest of people, society and the state". This international conference was organized by the Eurasian Regional branch of the International Archives council, the ALL- Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Records and Archives Management (VNIIDAD) in Moscow, the Russian Federation, and the Russian State University of Social Sciences.
At the same time, the conference marked the 55th anniversary of the ALL- Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Records and Archives Management (VNIIDAD), established in 1966, which represents a part of the main archival administration of the Russian Federation. The conference was attended by about 150 participants, and the State Archives was represented by the director Dr. Emil Krsteski, as well as representatives of the Research Department, International and Domestic Cooperation and Publication of Archive Materials and the Information Technology Department, and Digitization of Archive Materials. They participated in the conference through the online platform Zoom.
The conference was opened by Dr. Andrej Nikolaevich Artizov, director of the Federal Archive Agency of the Russian Federation (FAARF), and to the participants was addressing Mr. David Fricker, president of the International Archives Council, and Dr. Charles Farouja, president of the European Branch of the International Archives Council. The following topics were presented at the conference: "Schools of archival studies and the role of research institutes in their development", "Office work: problems, tasks, perspectives" and "Archives in the service of people and society: modern trends in the use of archival material", and two roundtables were organized: "Digital transformation and Current trends in Data and Document management" and "Problems in professional training and development of professional standards in archival and office work.”
One of the most interesting topics at the conference, which created space for more discussion, was the management and protection of electronic communication and the preservation of e-mails, as well as recent achievements in that direction.
