The touring exhibition "Macedonia Remembers - Never to be Repeated", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust and the deportation of the Macedonian Jews, was showcased in the city of Veles on Friday, in the premises of the Art Salon at the initiative of the State Archives. In front of the present guests, the exhibition was promoted by one of the authors, Dr. Jasmina Damjanovska from the State Archives, by the head of the Department of the State Archives - Veles, Naumche Rizovski MA, while the director of NI Naroden Museum of Veles, Mr. Angel Korunovski, gave a speech in the context of inter-institutional cooperation,.

In their speeches, they emphasized the role of the State Archives as an institution where the collective memory of historical events and processes of the past is preserved. Regarding the deportation of Jews from Macedonia during the Second World War, Dr. Jasmina Damjanovska emphasized that two Jewish families from Veles suffered. The well-known Biti family was first deported and returned to Veles because they were involved in the pharmacy business, and the second four-member Kova family was deported to Treblinka, where they vanished without a trace.

The exhibition will remain open until May 25 (Thursday) 2023, and the director Naumche Rizovski appealed to schools from the city of Veles to organize student visits. The opening of the exhibition was part of the program marking the International Day of Museums.
