At the invitation of acting the director general of the General Directorate of the State Archives of Greece, Amalia Papa, the director of the State Archives of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dr. Emil Krsteski, is staying in Athens. This is the first official contact and the first meeting between representatives of the two state archives. At the meeting and talks, in which our ambassador to Greece, Lidija Boškovska, and the head of the Sector, Svetlana Usprtsova, took part, the mutual desire to start cooperation between the Archives of the two countries, as well as for more intensive cooperation within the framework of international archival organizations and associations, was emphasized.
“These are the first small but significant steps of cooperation between the State Archives and the General Directorate of the State Archives of Greece, which I expect will continue to develop successfully. In principle, we discussed the implementation of several joint projects in the near future, such as the preparation of an exhibition of photographs from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. In that sense, we also mentioned the work of the Manaki brothers. With the interlocutors, whom we invited to come to Skopje soon, which was accepted with pleasure, we agreed to prepare and sign a joint Protocol for cooperation between these two institutions, which would give relations an appropriate legal framework" — stressed the director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski after the meeting and talks in Athens at the General Directorate of the State Archives of Greece. During their stay in Athens, the representatives of the State Archives also visited our Embassy in the Republic of Greece, where they generally discussed the current relations between the two countries with the ambassador, Lidija Boškovska.
