The Ottoman period was a continuous and complex process for the entire Balkan Peninsula, which began in the late fourteenth and ended in the early twentieth century. The long-standing Ottoman rule dictated and shaped the history of the region over several centuries. At the same time, the Ottoman tradition left a huge and rich heritage in many spheres of life, especially in the cultural, socio-economic and demographic spheres. Generations of historians, architects, art historians, writers and other intellectuals have studied that heritage as a historical continuum of the past. One of the richest and most important segments of the Ottoman heritage in Macedonia is the heritage in the field of archival material. The State Archive of the Republic of Macedonia has one of the richest collections of original Ottoman documents in the Balkans, of primary importance.<\/p>

The collection includes 80 firman - sultan orders for the period from 1056 to 1332 (1646\/1859).<\/p>

In the State Archive of the Republic of Northern Macedonia is preserved a very interesting and old unpublished manuscript - apocryphal collection, in which the apocryphal composition of Aphrodite the Persian is represented.<\/p>

The text gives an apocryphal story about the miracle that took place in Persia and the birth of Jesus Christ, which is the basis of the biblical account of the Savior's birth.<\/p>

The Apocrypha of Christ's birth with all its accompanying moments were the favorite literature of the people for many centuries, until the 19th century. This is evidenced by the numerous episodes and motifs that have passed from the apocrypha to the folklore of all Slavic peoples.<\/p>
