A working meeting was held today at the State Archives of Macedonia between the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska; the Director of the State Archives of Macedonia, Mr. Dimitar Bogeski, MA; the Deputy Director of the Archives, <\/a>Trendelina Deari; the Director of the Institute of National History, Prof. Dr. Mitko Panov; the Head of the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Dr. Dalibor Jovanovski; and the Director of the Bureau for Educational Development, Milka Trinchevska. The meeting emphasized the need to deepen cooperation among institutions operating in related fields, with the joint goal of advancing the development of historiography, archival studies, and contemporary educational practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants discussed strengthening digitization processes, which are crucial for the long-term preservation of archival materials and for providing easier access to documents for researchers, students, and the general public. Director Bogeski reported that the State Archives is already working on developing an information system for digitization and on securing funding for its implementation and adaptation to local conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Janevska emphasized that the State Archives is an institution of particular importance for the country and will be treated with appropriate attention and support. She highlighted the Ministry\u2019s readiness to consider proposals for incorporating authentic archival materials into textbooks, with the aim of bringing history closer to students in a more understandable, original, and engaging way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants also addressed the serious challenge posed by the shortage of students in archival studies programs. It was noted that various incentives, such as scholarships and other forms of support, need to be created to motivate young people to pursue these professions, which are essential for preserving the national memory. Additionally, the importance of appropriately recognizing the work of future archivists and historians was emphasized, ensuring continuity and quality in the development of these strategic fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting concluded with a shared agreement that coordinated institutional cooperation is essential for the modernization of archival studies and historiography, as well as for bringing them closer to the education system and younger generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
