The Director of the State Archives of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Mr. Kiril Petrov, at the invitation of the Forum of Slavic Cultures (www.fsc.si) attended the opening of the exhibition "Women and the Great War" at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, as well as the partnership meeting for the project "Together" ("Together") .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition "Women and the Great War" was initiated at the meeting of the Forum of Slavic Cultures in Warsaw, 2019 and is part of a project called "Together", which includes the preparation of a Guide to the archival material for the First World War in the state archives of Slavic countries and Register of archival institutions in the member states of the Forum of Slavic Cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eight partner institutions from the Slavic countries participated in the preparation of the exhibition "Women and the Great War": the National History Museum of Belarus, the State Archives Agency of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Croatian State Archives, the State Archives of Montenegro, the State Archives of the Republic of Northern Macedonia , The Russian State Agency for Film and Photo Documentation, the Archives of Serbia and the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The occasion for the preparation of the exhibition "Women and the Great War" was the centenary of the First World War (1914 - 1918) and the condition of women during that war, as well as the fifteenth anniversary of the establishment of the Forum of Slavic Cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The documents and photographs presented at the exhibition raise the question: "Did the Great War contribute to the change in the situation of women and did the war impose a more intensive engagement of women as a labor force?" Women during World War I, but also after its end, were no longer seen only as mothers and housewives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition shows us how a woman coped with the state of war within the family, charity, refugee status, personal stories, women's rights and emancipation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of the archives of the countries participating in the exhibition prepared five exhibition panels, which were later compiled and printed by the Forum of Slavic Cultures, which also prepared and printed a catalog for the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening of the exhibition took place on April 9, 2019 at 14:00 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris (Salle des Pas Perdus - 7 place de Fontenoy, Paris 7e), and at her address welcoming speeches were given by: H.E. Mr. Andrej Slapnicar, Ambassador - Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Slovenia to UNESCO; Ms. Sanije Gulser Korat, Director of the UNESCO Gender Equality Department and Dr. Andreja Richter, Director of the Forum of Slavic Cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening of the exhibition was attended by H.E. Mrs. Jadranka Chaushevska Dimov, Ambassador of the Republic of Northern Macedonia to the Republic of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition will be exhibited at UNESCO until April 15, 2019, after which it will be presented in the member countries of the Forum of Slavic Cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
