In fact, it is an oral history of the historical past of certain villages in the part of Macedonia in Greece, transmitted through the personal and especially through the indirect memories of the interviewed individuals.

The collection covers the period from the end of the Second World War, the course of the Greek Civil War and especially after its end in 1949, when a large number of refugees from the Greek state, Greeks and Macedonians, will be accepted in Yugoslavia. In a period of several decades and with great engagement by the Macedonian authorities, the Macedonian refugees from the Greek Civil War will go through a long process of adjustment and integration in the new socio-political context. The memories of the traumatic experience from the Civil War will be implemented in a specific cultural memory in which the memories of birthplaces, historical events and personalities will be opposed to ignoring the historical presence of the Macedonian population in the part of Macedonia in Greece, from side of the Greek state.

A kind of contribution to the development of this process will be the framing of these memories in historical sources, in written texts - chronicles, which as an integral part of the activities of the Institute of National History in Skopje, is realized in the late 50s and early 60s. the years of the 20th century.

According to the data contained in the texts, it can be concluded that the persons involved in this project provided answers to pre-prepared questions regarding the collective memories of the local population regarding the origin of the villages, the legends related to the origin of the village names, their location. the ethnic composition of the population, the number of the population and its changes, occupations, as well as other specific data on certain local events and prominent personalities, folk customs, folk songs, passed down through the generations by word of mouth.

Special emphasis is given to collecting data on the participation of the Macedonian population from each individual village in the national liberation and revolutionary movement in the Ilinden period, as well as in the national liberation and communist movement in the interwar period, during the anti-fascist struggle and during the Civil War. in Greece. In addition, the texts abound in other information relating to the way of life and daily life of the population in the specific circumstances of all the listed historical periods separately. It should be emphasized that, however, given the time distance, the chronicles, for the most part, detect and monitor the participation of the Macedonian population in the anti-fascist and Civil War in Greece, the change in population after its end and the destination of evicted persons and families from each village.

The data obtained as a result of the methods of oral history have the status of sources of tertiary importance and through their careful use in correlation and comparison with the archival documentation as a primary source, the offered texts can serve as an excellent source reading from which useful lessons can be drawn. data on the history, but also on the authentic ethnology, culture, demography, geography, ethnography and folklore of the individual settlements and regions in the part of Macedonia in Greece, which opens the possibility of discovering unknown data and events or unknown aspects of known events. .

The collection of documents contains 22 chronicles of settlements in the Kostur region such as Bobishta, Bomboki, Breshcheni, Vambel, Galishta, Dobrolishta, Dranichevo, Drenoveni, Ezerec, Konomladi, Statica and others. For easier use of the archival material, the edition marked with volume 1 is divided into two books. The first book contains 13 and the second 9 chronicles, which are arranged in alphabetical order of the names of the settlements. The published materials are selected, technically processed and with appropriate explanations given in footnotes below the text by the editors. At the end of each text is listed the original signature under which each document is individually registered in the Documentation Department "Dr. Velimir Brezovski" at the Institute of National History in Skopje. The chronicles are arranged in alphabetical order of the names of the settlements.

The chronicles are presented in original form and the Editorial Office distances itself from the spelling and factual errors that it records during the technical processing of the material. All geographical terms, personal names, names of organizations and historical events are given in the original form in which they are found in the documentation.

<figure
