The Director of the State Archives of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dr. Emil Krsteski, and the Director of State Archives of Montenegro, Sasa Tomanovic in Cetinje signed a cooperation agreement.
At the official meeting, Dr. Krsteski and Tomanovic exchanged views on the experiences so far and the work and functioning of the two archives, as well as their future plans and activities. The signing of this bilateral Cooperation Agreement, defines the directions of cooperation in the field of historical documents and archiving and deepens the relations between the two Archives.
"This agreement means a higher legislative level of cooperation with the State Archives of Montenegro and concrete steps for cooperation in the exchange of historical documents." In the meeting also was discussed the process of digitalization of the two archives, as well as the establishment of solid cooperation within the process of bequests of archive material from the former SFRY, an agreement from 2001, which Montenegro has not signed. The Montenegro archives, however, are interested in having documents from the former common state related to its history, which are in the archives in Belgrade," stated after the meeting, the director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski.
After the signing of the agreement, the director of the State Archives of Montenegro, Sasa Tomanovic, stated that the signing of this bilateral agreement is an important step in advancing the cooperation and is representing a signal that the two friendly countries are successfully cooperating in this field as well.
