USE OF THE ARCHIVE MATERIAL IN THE STATE ARCHIVE OF THE REPUBLIC OF NORTHERN MACEDONIA
Based on the authorization from the Law on Archive Material, the Director of the State Archive of the Republic of Northern Macedonia adopts Rulebook on the general and special conditions for the use of archival material in the Archive.
The Rulebook regulates the conditions for the use of the archive material by state, scientific, professional and other organizations and civil-legal and natural persons (users). In accordance with the Law, this Rulebook and other regulations, the archive material in the Archive is available for use for state, scientific and other purposes under equal conditions.
The State Archive may use: copies and documents from the archive funds and collections available to the Archive; microfilms and copies of archival material; scientific information tools for funds and collections and library material.
Foreign citizens can use the archive material in accordance with the Law, this Rulebook and the Rulebook for stay of foreigners in the State Archives.
The Rulebook confirms the general legal deadline for using the archive material (20 years after its creation), ie the agreed deadlines between the holder and the Archive, as well as the longer deadlines for use prescribed by the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia. If the holder who submitted his / her own material to the Archive has not determined the deadlines, the manner and the conditions for its use, it is determined by the Archive.
The original archival material and certain documents of special historical and cultural significance are not given for use in their original form, except in exceptions, when its use is required by state, scientific and cultural institutions (for court expertise, expertise, etc.).
The State Archives Library has about 11,000 editions, of which 881 are rare books. There are 35 Old Slavic and church manuscripts, created in the period from XIII to XX century.
