In the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Slovenia, an Agreement for a donation of 218,000 euros was signed today, intended for the realization of the process of digitization of historical documents and archival materials in the State Archives of the Republic of North Macedonia. This process is not only necessary for their permanent protection and preservation, but also for their greater transparency and accessibility to all those interested in our history.

This Agreement was officially signed in Ljubljana by the director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski, and the director of the Slovenian Center for International Cooperation and Development, Mojca Kopše.
Slovenia's donation includes the recent preparation of a Study on the needs for the implementation of the digitization process, an analysis of the current situation in relation to this process and the connection of the nine departments with the Central part of the State Archives, as well as the training of personnel for the implementation of digitization according to European standards and norms.

"Slovenia is our friendly country, which we feel as a kind of bridge to the European Union, and its support and experiences are always useful and welcome for accelerating our European integration. This is also the case with the digitization processes of the entire administration, including the State Archive, which the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Prime Minister, Dimitar Kovacevski, who recently stated that this is a necessary step for our accelerated from to the European Union. I also want to underline that the hand extended by Slovenia in that direction is of great importance for the State Archive, which will use the experiences and methods for digitization of the Slovenian State Archive, which are within the framework of European values and needs. for the intensification of our European integration" - said after the signing of the Agreement, the director of the State Archive, Dr. Emil Krsteski.

The Director of the Center for International Cooperation and Development, Mojca Kopše, however, emphasized that after the conclusion of the Digitization Study and the analysis of the work of the State Archives of North Macedonia in that direction, the second phase of the project, which involves the publication of a public announcement, will be moved on. for the participation of companies that will undertake the full implementation of the digitization process, and based on the Study and analysis, additional funds from international financial institutions will have to be provided.
