The traveling exhibition “Macedonia remembers – to be never forgotten”, which tells about the deportation of the Macedonian Jews 80 years ago, on the initiative of the State Archives, was installed in the city of Stip. In the “Bezisten” art gallery, before the present citizens and admirers of the historical past, the exhibition was promoted by the authors: Dr. Jasmina Damjanovska from the State Archives, Dr. Aleksandar Manojlovski from the Institute of National History and the head of the Department of the State Archives - Stip, Mario Parisov.
In their speeches, they referred to this tragic moment in our recent history where around 600 Stip Jews also suffered. Last month, the city of Stip was visited by Shela Altarac, a former resident of this city who now lives in Israel and who is the only survivor and saved from deportation. The exhibition abounds with over 200 photographs and documents that are divided thematically. The citizens of Stip have the opportunity to visit the exhibition in the art gallery, and it will be displayed until April 14, 2023, with the head Mario Parizov appealing to schools to organize visits for students.
The director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski, attended the event.
