Yesterday, an exhibition of old photographs titled "From Horse Market to Timber Market: A Kaleidoscope of a Bygone Era" was launched at the Bedesten in Bitola. Prepared by the team from the Bitola Archives (Dušan Božinovski, Marija Durlova, Dimitar Gjorgievski, Hristina Koteska Drijovska, and Goce Stojanovski), the exhibition was realized in collaboration with the Bitola Culture Center as part of the "Ilinden Days" festival.
The exhibition was opened by the Director of the State Archives of the Republic of Macedonia, Dimitar Bogeski (MA); the Director of the National Institution "Center for Culture – Bitola," Sasho Ilkovski (MA); and the Head of the Bitola Department, Goce Stojanoski (MA). Director Bogeski reminded the public of the significance and importance of promoting archival material through events of this kind. Department Head Stojanoski spoke about the origins of the idea for the exhibition, the historical significance of Bitola’s markets, and the need to preserve them from oblivion.
The exhibition is presented on ten double-sided hanging tarpaulin panels. It is conceived as a multidimensional experience that connects visitors with seven of Bitola’s markets through the physical location (the Bezisten), as well as through photographs and texts accessible via QR codes on the panels, which lead to the digital exhibition on the "Ilindenski Denovi" website.https://ilindenskidenovi.com/mk/iz26/).
