The State Archive continuously promotes the archival activity and the importance of archival institutions in society. The archival educator and long-time archivist, Nazmiye Kurtish, with other staff members, is developing and planning educational programs with tailored presentations to attract students' attention to archival and history as a potential choice for further education. On 18 May 2023 (Thursday), students from SUGS "SARAJ" - Skopje, visited the State Archives - central office with the subject professor of Law, Blerim Kovaci. As part of the visit, the students were presented with the importance of documents, the procedure for organizing and processing archival material, working with researchers and users. Part of the rich fund of professional literature that the State Archive has and the way to search for book titles were included in the content with which the students were introduced.


In the Department for arranging and processing archive material - Ottoman period, they had the opportunity to look at the exhibited rare documents and books in the Ottoman Turkish language. The students showed special interest in the presentation in the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Archival Material and in the Department of Information Technology and Digitization of Archival Material, observing the methods of treatment and protection of documents with the help of cutting-edge technology.


The deputy director, prof. Dr. Muzafer Bislimi greeted the students by reminding them of the role of archives in modern societies and opened a discussion on all the questions they have. At the end of the visit, anonymous survey questionnaires were distributed to the students to evaluate the presentation, during which it was highly rated and they expressed their motivation to study history and archival studies in the future.
