The Director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski, on October 20, 2021, visited the General Directorate of Archives of the Republic of Italy, at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Italy and had a work meeting with the Director, Dr. Anna Maria Buzzi.
During the meeting, both signed an Agreement for cooperation between the State Archives of the Republic of North Macedonia and the General Directorate of the Archives of the Republic of Italy.
This Agreement is planned in the application for work of the State Archives in 2021.
The first Cooperation Agreement with the Archives in Italy was signed in 1997, and in 2000.
The directors of the two archives, before the official signing of the Cooperation Agreement, exchanged views on the functioning of both institutions and their bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
In accordance with the new Cooperation Agreement, the State Archives of the Republic of North Macedonia and the General Directorate of Archives of the Republic of Italy will work on developing and promoting cooperation in the field of archives, where cooperation will be developed on the basis of equality and mutual interest, and on the basis of financial capabilities and in accordance with national legislation as well as interstate agreements.

In the signing of the Cooperation Agreement also attended Mr. Zvonimir Popovic, Acting Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to the Republic of Italy.
During the visit of the General Directorate of Archives of the Republic of Italy in Rome, Dr. Emil Krsteski was introduced to the way of working in the archives in the Republic of Italy, primarily in the field of digitization and conservation.
