The State Archives directs its publishing activity towards supporting works that, with their content, open up new scientific research challenges for researchers and historians. Among the latest editions of the State Archive, which was recently published, is the work “Greek documents on the history of Ottoman Macedonia (end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century)" by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Ljorovski. This collection of documents is an addition to the wide range of published foreign documentation translated into Macedonian about the history of Macedonia.
Through the collected 121 documents in the collection, readers will have the opportunity to become familiar with the complex mosaic of social-economic, social-political, religious-educational relations that existed in the indicated period in the Ottoman Empire, including Ottoman Macedonia. The multitude of reports of Greek diplomats and national representatives transmitted in the collection say that among the Macedonian population, the awareness of religious affiliation, the sense of local identity and the attachment to home and family prevailed. Inevitably, the work contains information about the organized propaganda of the neighboring countries towards Ottoman Macedonia.
The documents originated from the archives of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then from the State Archives of Greece, from Greek museums and libraries, therefore the collection with its scientific value deserves to be part of the libraries of researchers and history lovers.
