THE SECOND BOOK OF THE SECOND VOLUME OF "OTTOMAN DOCUMENTS ON THE HISTORY OF MACEDONIA - CENSUSES OF THE 19th CENTURY (1832-1833) SANJAK OF SKOPJE, KAZA OF SKOPKA" BY DR. ADNAN SERIF IS PUBLISHED

The fifth book, i.e. the second book of the second volume of the series "Ottoman Documents on the History of Macedonia, Censuses from the 19th century - of the Sanjak of Skopje", regarding the beginning of the second quarter of the 19th century, i.e. 1832/33, which actually represents continuation of the series that the State Archives started in 2018.

It is an inventory of processed section of the original defter, which refer to the Roma population of Islamic and Christian denomination, the Jewish Quarter, as well as the unmarried artisans - guild members from the Kaza of Skopje within the Sanjak of Skopje, intended for the neighborhoods in the city of Skopje and its villages and at the very end the villages in the Kachanik district from the second quarter of the 19th century (1832/33). This book rounds up the entire census conducted by the Ottoman State for the entire population regardless of religious or ethnic affiliation from the Kaza of Skopje in the Sanjak of Skopje from 1832/33.

The represented censuses of the Ottoman State from 1832/33 are the first modern censuses conducted on its territory because unlike the censuses of previous centuries, these 19th century censuses resemble the modern censuses and because they contain data on the total number of male population regardless of age, tax liability, profession or socio-economic power, the Ottoman historiography rightly considers and treats them as the first modern censuses conducted on its territory.

The book was published in both Macedonian and Albanian language.
