ENRICHING THE ARCHIVES MEMORY OF THE MACEDONIANS IN MELBOURNE

The history of the Macedonian diaspora in Australia is represented in the State Archives with a group of archives funds brought from the field research. The institutions has made continuous efforts to enrich them with new materials, which would be beneficial for the researchers and would become a part of the memory of the Macedonian people with their handover. The private holder Cvetan Petrovski-Cele from Melbourne visited the State Archives Department of Bitola and donated archives material which covers the cultural, political, church life and many other activities with national character of the Macedonians in Melbourne in the past several decades. As a cameraman had an opportunity to record all of the more important events organized in this city that were relevant for the Macedonian community. Simultaneously, he has kept journals with detailed descriptions of the events he witnessed in the period from 1990 - 1995. Back in 2024, this Department established the fund No. 1098 "Cvetan Petrovski - Cele" wich included previously donated archives material.

The State Archives has extended its gratitude to Mr. Cvetan Petrovski for his expression of social and national responsibility for preserving the national memory.
