The Director of the State Archives of Macedonia, M.A. Dimitar Bogeski, appeared as a guest on the program “Sunday Magazine” on Macedonian Radio-Television, where he spoke about the upcoming jubilee – 75 years since the establishment of the institution. In the conversation, he emphasized that the State Archives represents one of the foundations of Macedonian national history and statehood, as well as continuity in the development of the cultural and national past of the Macedonian people. Bogeski reminded that the primary goal of the Archive is to keep records of where archival materials are located, to collect, preserve, and restore them, and also to make them accessible through publication for the scientific and research community.
“All the collections of the State Archives are invaluable. They are the continuity of Macedonian statehood – a sea of documents that testify to our cultural heritage, our significance, and our existence,” emphasized Director Bogeski.
He also անդրlined certain anomalies that existed in the past, noting that the institution is now working to overcome them with a clear vision and significant steps forward. According to him, the Archive is becoming increasingly present and recognized by the public, and all of its sectors are operating at full capacity, resulting in new editions—books, documents, and publications that are made available to the scientific and professional community.
Bogeski also spoke about digitization as a key process for preserving documentary heritage. With modern technologies, as he emphasized, long-term protection of the materials is ensured, along with greater accessibility for citizens and researchers.
On the eve of the jubilee, the director emphasized that the 75th anniversary is not just a number, but a reminder of the immense responsibility the institution carries as a guardian of state memory and the identity of the Macedonian people.
