International Archives Day – June 9, is observed annually in honor of the establishment of the International Council on Archives (ICA) in 1948, under the auspices of UNESCO.
This year, Archives Week is being held from June 8 to 12 and highlights the importance of archives as active agents in preserving collective memory, safeguarding rights, and shaping the future.
This year’s theme emphasizes the need for archives to be open, accessible, and connected to the community, demonstrating that they are not only custodians of the past but also an important factor in the development of contemporary society.
On the occasion of Archives Week, the State Archives is organizing a series of events dedicated to the promotion of archival heritage.
On June 9 in Tetovo, a book promotion and an exhibition dedicated to the Ottoman period in Macedonia will be held. On June 10 in Kumanovo, the jubilee publication 'The State Archives – A Pillar of Macedonian Identity' will be presented, followed by an exhibition marking the anniversary of the State Archives.
