"Macedonia in CIA Documents" is a research and selection of particularly important declassified US intelligence documents on Macedonia, located at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and published on its website: https : //www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/. The second volume covers documents from 1951 when the Agreement on Military Assistance was signed between the governments of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia and the United States as a turning point in improving relations between the two countries during the Cold War through the break-up of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and independence. of the Republic of Macedonia in 1991, including the implications of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the situation in the Republic of Macedonia and the assassination of President Kiro Gligorov in 1995.

In volume 2 of the edition are published a total of 175 documents with numbering in continuation of the numbering from the first volume of the edition, so that the first document in volume 2 starts from ordinal number 1 up to number 175. The documents are chronologically arranged, with different forms and contents that enable the public to gain knowledge and insight into the manner and methods of operation of the CIA, which since its inception has had a great interest in acting in Macedonia. Our primary interest in selecting the documents for this edition was the mention of Macedonia and the Macedonians in research and analysis, intelligence reports, information reports, special reports, assessments and notes, bulletins, memoranda and daily and weekly open source reviews and other CIA documents. often rated as the most confidential, ie as a top secret (TOP SECRET).

Besides the political dimensions of the Macedonian issue, the edition also contains documents that address the issue of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, the Macedonian language, the construction of traffic infrastructure, army and police facilities, the activities of the State Security Directorate, combat deployment of army units, military facilities , airports, uranium ore deposits and other valuable raw materials, development of Macedonian agriculture, economy, construction of factories and power plants, overall development of the economy, demographic and ethnographic characteristics, geographical research, municipalities in the People's Republic of Macedonia and political leadership officials and committees, activities of the Communist Party of Macedonia / Union of Communists of Macedonia, activities of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization, issues of Macedonian emigration, trade unions, pensioners' associations, amateur radio and aviation clubs, prisons and system, the activities of the Macedonian Parliament, the position of women in society and other segments of the executive, legislative and judicial branches. No less interesting and important for the CIA were the data on the weather conditions in certain periods as well as the monitoring of the scientific research work and the published publications that were of interest to the CIA intelligence.

The documents that we publish in facsimile are given originally with an indication on the website under which they are available in the CIA electronic archive and the date of the last check. The researched documents from the CIA archive are important material for the Macedonian historical science and especially important scientific argumentation for dealing with the challenges in the foreign policy. Having in mind the importance of the testimonies of the American intelligence services for the Macedonians, we publish the documents in facsimiles with translation and comments in Macedonian language in the two-volume edition "Macedonia in the CIA documents".
