Within the project "Macedonia in the Foreign Press" funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, the second volume of the editors-in-chief Dr. Teon Dzingo, Dr. Filip Petrovski and editor Igor Sotirov was published.
In the phase of preparation of the collection "Macedonia in the foreign press" volume II, scientific research stays were realized in a dozen libraries in the Balkan, European and world countries, with the sole purpose of finding daily and weekly press articles referring to Macedonia and the Macedonian issue in the period from the second half of the XIX century until the declaration of independence of the Republic of Macedonia.
This edition contains texts from six countries: Austria (Austria-Hungary), Germany, Italy, Serbia, Croatia and France. The countries are arranged in alphabetical order, and the texts are arranged chronologically, ie according to the date of their publication. The editors in one place transferred some of the most important materials found by the team of scientists, through a selection that equally represents the print media in each of the countries.
As in the first volume, a scanned copy of the original text is shown to the left-handers of the edition, and the translation is on the right, with the sole purpose of creating conditions for a unique opportunity to compare the original with the translation. All materials that were provided during the research process are deposited in the State Archive of the Republic of Northern Macedonia in order for the current and future generations of scientists to have available a collection of texts that address this issue.
The editors dedicate this paper to the numerous generations of Macedonians from the past for whom there was no compromise regarding Macedonia and the Macedonian issue, as well as to the current and future generations to be a signpost to the challenges they will have to face in the present and the future.
With the support of the Ministry of Culture and the realization of the project, gaps in the archive funds were filled and the scientists had the opportunity to get acquainted with materials from the relevant field. The project "Macedonia in the foreign press" aims to introduce the Macedonian public with the general picture of Macedonia in the late 19th and early 20th century in foreign media articles.
