The ceremonial opening of the exhibition 150 Years since the Birth of Goce Delčev, which took place today, was the central manifestation on the state level, organized by the State Archives - an institution with a mission to preserve the memory of the Macedonian people and actualize the cultural and historic heritage of the state. On this day, 150 years ago, Goce Delčev (1872 - 1903) was born, one of the most important historical figures whose impact in their times still lives today.
The exhibition, prepared by the foremost State Archives professionals, was unveiled today at a ceremonial event in the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle to the audience of statesmen, ambassadors and scientific professionals. The audience was addressed by the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Stevo Pendarovski, who is the patron of the exhibition, the Director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski, and Dr. Jasmina Damjanovska - the author of the exhibition.
The State Archives has in its keeping 41 original letters, handed over along with Goce Delčev’s relics. Especially interesting is the section representing the materials from the heritage of Goce Delčev’s descendents, bequeathed to the State Archives by his niece, Mrs. Velika Čopova-Jurukova. The exhibition shall be displayed for ten days in the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, where it can be viewed by the interested public.
