The State Archives, as an institution responsible for collecting and recording archive material on the history of the state, cooperates with the remaining State Archives of the successor states of the former SFR Yugoslavia, with the aim of further implementing Annex D of the Succession Agreement (signed on June 29, 2001, in Vienna, ratified in 2004), which regulates issues of a succession of archive material. For that purpose, Dr. Emil Krsteski - director of the State Archives and official representative for Annex D in the Common Committee for the Succession of Archives, on July 11 in Zagreb and on July 12 in Ljubljana, had two separate bilateral meetings with Dr. Dinko Čutura , director of the Croatian State Archives, and Dr. Bojan Cvelfar, director of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, where they discussed ensuring conditions for regularly holding meetings of the representatives of the successor countries for the implementation of Annex D and enabling the availability and use of archive material from all successor countries, which is in accordance with Article 7 of Annex D, which guarantees all successor countries free and unimpeded access to the common archive material of the former SFR Yugoslavia, covering the period from December 1, 1918 to June 30, 1991 and all State Archives – successors of the SFR Yugoslavia to work on the preparation of a common project for the digitization of archive material from the former SFR Yugoslavia.

At the meetings in the Croatian State Archives and the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, in addition to the issue of the succession of the "State Archive" of the former Yugoslavia, the directors also discussed the digitization of archive material, the software solutions that are used in this process and experiences exchanged in the field of archive legislation and the way in which the downloading of electronic documents by the state archives is regulated. In Ljubljana, Dr. Emil Krsteski had the opportunity to see the building that is being renovated and where the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia will move in 2024. The working meetings in Zagreb and Ljubljana were also attended by Mr. Sašo Jankulovski, State Counsellor, and Svetlana Usprcova, Head of Department at the State Archives.
