The State Archive affirms institutional memory and initiates inter-institutional cooperation in the commemoration of anniversaries of events based on our statehood. This year marks the 30th anniversary of our country's membership in the United Nations, with the State Archives realizing the exhibition project "30 years of membership in the UN" in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Coordinator of the UN in Skopje. Experienced professionals, historians-archivists coordinated by the director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski, conducted intensive research using archival material from several institutions that are presented to the public for the first time through this exhibition.
Promotionally, the exhibition "30 years of membership in the UN" was opened today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, T Isaki, M.A., the Permanent Coordinator of the UN, Rossana Dudzak, and the Director of the State Archives, Dr. Emil Krsteski.
In his address to the audience, director Dr. Emil Krsteski emphasized that the admission to the UN on April 8, 1993 is a significant act in the international integration of our country in times of conflicts and instability in the regions. Dr. Emil Krsteski emphasized that precisely because of this, the State Archives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly decided to initiate an exhibition that, through archival material and photos, will remind generations of times full of challenges. In the period of the active action of the Macedonian diplomacy in that period for the membership of the country in the UN, Dr. Emil Krsteski as a journalist closely followed those processes in the headquarters of the world organization. By sending regular reports to the Macedonian radio and television and other written media, the public was informed about all developments related to the country's admission to the UN.
Dr. Emil Krsteski took the opportunity to thank the professionals from the President's cabinet, Dr. Stevo Pendarovski, the Assembly, the diplomatic archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the offices of the Permanent Representative of the United Nations and the employees of The state archive for mutual cooperation and investment in the realization of the exhibition, which is of extraordinary importance for the commemoration of the recent past of our country.
The exhibition continues to be open for the next two weeks at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence.
