A delegation from the State Archives, led by Director M.A. Dimitar Bogeski, participated in a meeting of the archives of the successor states of the SFRY in Sarajevo. The Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the meeting, where issues of common interest related to archival materials and succession processes were discussed, with special emphasis on digitization.
The Director of the Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Danijela Mrda, emphasized that such meetings represent an important opportunity to enhance cooperation among the successor states, especially within the framework of Annex D of the Succession Agreement, with a particular focus on the digitization of archival materials and their accessibility.
One of the key projects highlighted was the digitization of the fonds of the Presidency of the FPRY, with an agreement reached that the successor states would obtain digital copies of the materials and use them in accordance with their respective needs.
As part of the discussions, the issue of the division and accessibility of certain archival fonds was also raised, including film materials, as well as the challenges related to their preservation and use. It was emphasized that issues related to the succession of archival materials represent a complex process that requires continuous institutional cooperation and support.
The participants emphasized that digitization is a key instrument for ensuring access to archival materials and their long-term preservation, and that such meetings contribute to tangible progress in that direction.
The meeting in Sarajevo represents a continuation of regional cooperation among archival institutions, aimed at the protection, accessibility, and modern management of the shared archival heritage of the former SFRY.
