May 4th, the Day of Remembrance of Goce Delchev

On May 4th, the anniversary of the death of Goce Delchev is commemorated. With deep respect, we remember the life and work of this great figure of Macedonian revolutionary thought and the struggle for freedom. At the age of 31, in the village of Banitsa, he was killed, leaving behind an indelible mark as the most prominent figure of the Macedonian revolutionary national liberation movement in the pre-Ilinden period.

His vision of Macedonia as a free and just state, built on the principles of equality and human dignity, remains a powerful inspiration to this day.

The State Archives holds archival materials, including photographs from the transfer of the remains of Goce Delchev, letters in his own handwriting addressed to his brother, as well as his coded alphabet.

The State Archives proudly preserves these testimonies as lasting memories of one of Macedonia’s most significant sons.

Glory to him!
