Several archive workers, together with Dr. Emil Krsteski, director of the State Archives and Dr. Muzafer Bislimi, Deputy Director, on July 6, 2022 had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Ardit Bido, director of the General Directorate of Archives of Albania and his closest collaborators.
At the meeting, experiences from archival work in both countries were exchanged and future steps in the implementation of the cooperation Agreement were agreed.
After the cooperation of the State Archives with the State Agency "Archives" of the Republic of Bulgaria on the project - exhibition "Old Balkan photos", at the meeting with Dr. Ardit Bido, it was discussed the inclusion of the General Directorate of Archives of Albania in this project, with photos from their depots. Dr. Ardit Bido emphasized that the Archive in Tirana holds about 130,000 photographs, all digitized, of which about 7,000 photographs refer to the period covered by the indicated exhibition, from the end of the 19th and the first thirty years of the 20th century.
The delegation from the State Archives, during the visit to the Archives in Tirana, had the opportunity to visit their new depot, which is located in Shkozë and has been built and arranged according to all archival standards for the storage and protection of archive material.
The delegation from the State Archives was presented with the oldest and most significant and representative archive materials, which are kept in the Archive in Tirana, including the royal codex from the 6th century and an original copy of the Koran from the 15th century, which they managed to preserve and preserve for future generations.
During the visit to Tirana, the delegation from the State Archives also visited the Cultural and Information Center of the Republic of North Macedonia in Tirana, and a meeting was held with the director, Mr. Zlatko Origjanski.
