On June 21, 2019, the State Archive of the Republic of Northern Macedonia hosted a delegation from the Directorate of State Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey led by the Director Prof. Dr. Ugur Unal. The two institutions have been cooperating at a high level since 1990, which has been confirmed by the signing of six cooperation agreements in various areas of archival activity. In order to deepen that cooperation, within the working meeting, the director Kiril Petrov and the director prof. Dr. Ugur Unal signed a new Protocol for cooperation which envisages exchange of specialists in the field of archival work; research stays and exchange of copies of archival material on the basis of reciprocity and in accordance with national legislation; exchange of collections of documents and archival magazines; organization of scientific meetings and joint exhibitions of reproduced samples of archival material.
At the meeting, proposals for educating the employees of the State Archives of the Republic of Northern Macedonia were discussed and concepts for cooperation with the diplomatic and military archives of the Republic of Turkey were proposed.
The signing of the Protocol on Cooperation was attended by H.E. Ms. Tulin Erkal Kara, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
