The State Archives published the publication "Ottoman documents on the history of Macedonia, censuses from the XIX century of the Christian population, Skopje Sandjak - Kaza Skopje, 1832/33", book 2, part 1 by Assoc. Dr. Adnan Sherif as part of the series of censuses of the Ottoman state for the Skopje Sandjak. These censuses contain extensive data on the male Christian population regardless of social status, as well as data on the Roma population and the Jewish community. The age of the enumerated person, the kinship of the members of the enumerated household, their occupation, the date of death or relocation as well as the category of military tax payment are part of the data entered by the enumerators in the defter.
The censuses territorially cover the Skopje Kaza, actually the neighborhoods in the city of Skopje, the villages near Ćair, on Kara Dag (Montenegro), in the areas Karsijak, Derven and the villages in the nahija of Kaćanik from the first half of the XIX century (1832/33). As such, they are of great importance for today's generations of Macedonians of the Christian faith because access to this data gives them the opportunity to form their own family tree. Simultaneously, the data contained in this work are important for historical science and may be useful for acquiring new scientific knowledge.
