6-7 june 2022 - International archives week
The International Archives Day is celebrated by all the archives and archivists throughout the world since 2009, organized by the International Council on Archives – ICA, an international non-governmental organization, which stimulates the archival activity and promotes the work iin the archives and the protection of global archival heritage. This organization was established in 1948 and numbers approximately 1,400 members from 199 countries and territories, and has close cooperation with the European Council, UNESCO and many other organizations. On this day, the archival professionals are organizing a range of events aimed at attracting the public attention about the importance of the documents and the archives as institutions which keep and protect them. One of the top priorites of the archives in the new era is their availability and accessibility not only for the historians, but also for all the citizens.

During the following years, the International Archives Day grew into the International Archives Week, and this year all the professionals have been invited to discussion in the frames of the webinars which shall be organized on the topic: what does it really mean to be an archivist and what do the archival records really reflect? The documents contain stories of the past, present, while in the future they will help us understand who we are, and what we strive to be. The General Topic of the fourth International Archives Week is #ArchivesAreYou. During the five days dedicated to the International Archives Week #IAW2022, professionals from the whole world will take participation in the webinars with different topics. The first webinar of the members of the International Archive Council shall be held on 6 June 2022, on the subject of: New Technology.
The State Archives shall take participation in celebrating the International Archives Week by promoting the accomplishments of the institutions in the media, by organizing exhibitions about the life on opus of a renown artist from Prilep. The cooperation with the private holders of archive materials in one of the State Archives priorities, and as a token of mutual trust and gratitude, it shall give certificate of appreciation to all the citizens who had bequeathed valuable documents.
