120 years since the death of Goce Delcev

In the history of the Macedonian people for national emancipation, the name of Goce Delchev (February 4, 1872, Kukush – May 4, 1903, Banica village), is rightly considered synonymous with the people's struggle for freedom. Some of the publicists who were engaged in researching his role in recent Macedonian history, pointed out that with "his blood, he cemented the foundations of the Macedonian liberation struggle".акедонската ослободителна борба“.

In his short but full life, Delchev fulfilled his duty to his people as a teacher-enlightener, organizer of the Macedonian Revolutionary Organization, while cruising through Macedonian cities he strengthened the people's endurance and faith for a better tomorrow. Goce Delchev remained strongly remembered in the collective memory of generations to this day because of the wisdom and high moral characteristics that he possessed as a person. That is why he incorporated himself into the ideology and strategy of MRO and took responsibility for providing material resources and supplying the Organization with revolutionary literature.

"Continuously work for the cultural upliftment and liberation of the Macedonian people" - this is the incentive that made Goce Delchev to fight life and death for his timeless goals. On the day of the commemoration of the anniversary of his death, the thought is imposed that we must understand Delchev's message, which motivates us as a nation of unity and loyalty to the state, which was obtained with many self-sacrifices. Dimo Hadji Dimov, a close associate and friend of Goce, and himself a participant in the fight at Banica, left the following poignant testimony: For fifteen hours we watched the dead Goce, bent, it seems, on the back of Macedonia. And for fifteen hours our hearts were torn..

At the age of 31, she disappeared from the life and historical scene, without a doubt, the most dynamic person of the Macedonian revolutionary national liberation movement in the pre-Linden period, which left lasting traces in Macedonian history.
