The State Archives attaches special importance to the continuous promotion of international cooperation with the archives of other countries, which it has been developing fruitful cooperation in the interest of archival activity and the standards set by the International Archives Council.
Starting from this principle, the general director of the Directorate of State Archives at the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Ugur Unal accompanied by Junayt Talha Oziurek, third secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Skopje. Had work meeting between the director of the State Archive, M.Sc. Hrista Najdanov as host and prof. Dr. Ugur Unal, it was concluded that the past multi-year period has been successful in terms of joint cooperation and the great support that the Directorate of State Archives provides to the State Archives in several directions. Among others, M.Sc. Hrista Najdanov and prof. Dr. Ugur Unal also discussed the joint exhibition project, which will contain exclusive archival material from both archives, and will refer to the history of Ottoman Macedonia. Working groups composed of archival professionals have been preparing the exhibition for a long time, which should be promoted in Istanbul and Skopje in the second half of the current year, and a special edition will be printed for the exhibition. At the working meeting, it was concluded that the project will be another significant result that will mark the already strong action of the archival institutions from the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey for the promotion of the common cultural-historical heritage.
Those present at the meeting also initiated new ideas that are acceptable to both parties, whereby prof. Dr. Ugur Unal once again confirmed the commitment to transfer the work experiences and start new projects in the future.
Prof. Dr. Ugur Unal, within the framework of his visit to the State, visited the laboratory for conservation and restoration of archival material, the reading room intended for researchers and the Department for arranging and processing archival material - Ottoman period, which was equipped with the support of the Turkish Cooperation Agency and TIKA coordination. The previous day, the Turkish delegation and representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey visited the Department of the State Archives in Veles. Prof. Dr. Ugur Unal was presented by the head, Dr. Jasmina Damjanovska, to the archive activity in the Department and was presented with documents in the Ottoman Turkish language that are part of the "Turkish documents 1873 - 1910" fund, as well as other documents and books that the Department of the State Archives in Veles has preserved during its existence so far.
