The State Archives of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Islamic Religious Community held a meeting for their further cooperation in the premises of the Institute of Religious Affairs on 3 September 2024. The meeting was attended by representatives from both institutions: the Director of the State Archives, Dr. Natasha Kotlar, the State Counselor, Ms. Emilia Rop, MA, the Head of the Sector, Svetlana Usprcova, as well as the junior associates Nazmiye Kurtish and Blerta Emini, and the representatives of IVZ Reis-ul-ulema efendi Shaqir Fetahu, the Secretary General Irsal Yakupi, the Chief of Staff Abdulkerim Iseni, the Director of Halal Standard Driton Dickena and Prof. Dr. Omer Mumin.
The representatives of the Islamic Religious Community had a presentation of their archival materials and the important activities performed in the preservation of religious and cultural heritage. Both sides expressed interest in establishing joint funds and digitization of archival documents, emphasizing the need for exchange of materials and deepening of cooperation.
The Director of the State Archives, Dr. Natasha Kotlar, expressed her gratitude for the warm hospitality and underlined the importance of mutual cooperation. Reis-ul-Ulema efendi Shaqir Fetahu supported the initiative of the State Archives and emphasized that the IVZ is ready to develop further cooperation in preserving and promoting the cultural and religious heritage.
The visit was concluded with a tour of IVZ's archives unit, where they had a presentation of the kept documents and materials, as well as the manner of work.
